Amsterdam and the water
A maquettre shows an old Dutch landscape. Poldermills transport the water via three levels from the polder. The maquette gives a clear impression how mankind tried to control the water.
The Sloten windmill is still functioning as a poldermill and is able to keep the height of the water on level in Amsterdam, new West, which lies 2 meters below N(ew) A(msterdam)P(level). When during rainy weather the waterlevel is rising, the superfluous water is pumped to the Ringvaart, also by our Mill.
